I have over 25 years of business writing and content editing experience, primarily acquired in marketing and administrative management roles. I launched Hen House Publishing in December 2015, after 25 years of corporate employment. During that quarter-century, I worked on proposals, brochures, newsletters, magazines, manuals, event programs, website copy, and more. Since then, the diversity has increased.
As an association manager for nonprofit professional and trade associations, my duties ranged from producing association publications to email campaigns to website management to event planning to membership recruitment to monthly invoicing.
Beginning as an executive secretary with the administrative agency of a mainline Protestant denomination, I soon transferred to a position that mixed network administration with all things related to print communication. The work entailed newsletters, catalogs, developing survey instruments, analyzing quantitative research, and writing research reports.
I worked for the marketing "department" of a small architectural and engineering firm, mainly producing A/E proposals for private and public sector capital projects. The work entailed gathering information in response to RFPs, maintaining a database of boilerplate content and graphics for use in proposals, and producing the proposal documents.
